Mayors of the Algarve are considering the creation of a tax on tourism in the region.

With an unemployment rate above the national average, at 17.4%, and with businesses in the region to resent up to the crisis, Mayors of the Algarve consider that the economic situation is getting worse and urgent action is needed.

A tax on tourism nights to revert to social support is the idea on the table, but that does not please everyone.

The Confederation of Tourism of Portugal (CTP) has already speaking out against the creation of this rate.
